Roisai Wongsuban

Roisai Wongsuban, has a deep understanding of the issues faced by migrants and Thai workers in Thailand through years of experience in policy advocacy and has held multi positions to manage multi-million dollar projects with both private and non-profit sectors. Currently, she is the program adviser at Freedom Fund and her work is focused on anti-trafficking in persons and forced labour in the fishery and seafood industry.

Roisai obtained degree in Master of International Development and Environmental Analysis from Monash University in 2006 and started working on human trafficking prevention with the Australian-based agency known as Project Respect. After returning to Thailand, she became deeply involved in pushing for changes and improvement in Thailand’s migration policy, pushing for policy reform and enforcement on issues such as human trafficking, labour rights, access to justice and services, birth registration and refugee protection. In 2015, she entered post graduate study at Deakin University’s Humanitarian Leadership Program.

Roisai is recognised as a key activist and advocate for refugee and migrant rights. Her work and contributions gained well-earned recognition at the 2015 Australian Alumni Awards as the recipient Australian Alumni Young Alumni – Community Engagement Award.

For events organised by the Australian Embassy, AAA Thailand will submit names of alumni members to the embassy on a rotation basis.
